Preparing analytics access for an external review
External reviews move faster when access is boring and documented.
Minimum set
- Event names for filter apply, search submit, empty result, listing open, save search, and inquiry start
- A date range with no major unlogged release — or a note of what changed mid-window
- Confirmation of who owns the analytics property and how credentials will be rotated afterward
Privacy basics
Strip phone numbers and exact addresses from exports when possible. Prefer aggregated session paths. Your PDPA contact should know the reviewer and the retention period before day one.
What slows reviews
Renaming events mid-sample without a changelog, sharing screenshots instead of queryable data, and rotating three “temporary” owners who each know a third of the schema.
Spend one afternoon on the checklist and the readout will spend less time decoding labels and more time on seeker behaviour.
